Hi, I’m Jill and I want to take a moment to share a little of my story. Sometimes I giggle a little when people ask where I met my husband. There are so many stories surrounding the meeting and in the end, my response is that I met the man of my dreams at a wedding! We saw each other across the patio and talked into the evening. The making of a real fairy tale, Jonathan and I married in 2010 and now two princes daily capture our hearts.

But no story is without trials and struggles. A few years before I met my Prince Charming, I lost my hair to an autoimmune condition called Alopecia Areata. My friends and family offered loving support, but I often wondered would a man ever marry a bald woman? The happily married Jill can now answer, “Yes!!” Jonathan did not fall for that blonde wig that I wore, but for who I was on the inside. Although we do joke about that “Blonde” at the wedding.

As we prepared for marriage, I remember some telling us how hard the first year of marriage can be. So I prayed for wisdom and understanding as we learned from each other. The little bumps never slowed down the passion we had for living life together. Then, 9 months into our newlywed year, the thing that today brings us tears and hope happened. On an April afternoon, we found ourselves clinging to each other as a tornado destroyed our home.  Jonathan held onto me and God wrapped His arms around both of us as the storm tossed us through the air. But destruction does not always mean loss. My life, my husband’s life, and our unborn son’s life were saved by something greater than us that day. We had no control and yet complete peace during the tornado. So yes, I can now say that the first year of marriage can be hard:)

What do these stories have to do with my photography? I want to be genuine with you–striving to make images that capture who you are. I hope the warmth of my photographs mirrors your emotions. Whether this is a chapter of your story that is filled with joy, heartache or somewhere in between, I desire to produce images that help you remember the hope you had in the moment.

A little about my experience.  People ask how long I have been a photographer and my response is always when I picked up my first Polaroid when I was 8.  I have always been the photographer in my family. Some of my favorite memories are of my grandmother telling stories of her black and white images.

I graduated from the University of Alabama with a BA in Telecommunication & Film in 2004.  A career in broadcast news allowed me to develop my passion for the creative arts.  I picked up my first Nikon camera in 2010 and started to focus on portrait photography.  After my first wedding, I was hooked on wedding photography.  Creating timeless images of your day to share with future generations is my passion.

I grew up on Alabama’s beautiful gulf coast in Foley, Alabama. Now, I reside with my family in the quaint West Alabama city of Demopolis.  I travel all over the Southeast to celebrate with couples on their wedding day.  I enjoy weddings in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Gulf Shores, Pensacola, Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, Meridian, and Antarctica (if you supply a hat).  Actually, the Caribbean is probably more of my scene.  If you connect with my story and my photography style, then I would love to listen to your story.  I look forward to hearing from you soon!

We hired Jill to take pictures of our family this summer in June. It was an outdoor photo shoot and incredibly hot. We have two small children, who were not entirely cooperative.....as children rarely are. Jill was extremely patient, personable and flexible! She had ideas of poses and backdrops which was great, but she also incorporated my ideas too. Jill did a fantastic job capturing what we wanted and photos were released to us in a timely fashion. Overall, we were incredibly pleased! I highly recommend her!

I have nothing but good things to say about Jill! We have adopted her as our family photographer. She took my senior pictures, captured our engagement, and documented our wedding day catching every detail! She is so personal and such a sweet precious person! If you get Jill to photograph a special moment in your life you will end up with amazing photos to enjoy for years and a good friend!

Our family truly appreciated the work Jill did for us. She came prepared, with fun ideas and lots of energy. She used our time well and we have loved the memories she captured for us. From setting up the shoot to delivering the pictures, I couldn't have asked for more. She made me, my husband and our two small children feel comfortable. She was patient and silly, creative and understanding. I would surely recommend her to anyone wanting a special time in their life captured on film.
